Carlos Cuesta

Program Director

Carlos Cuesta is the Program Director for the Nusenda Fintech Lab, a program seeking to establish a center of financial technological innovations in the Southwest region. He also serves as an associate for the Arrowhead Innovation Fund and Audaz Capital, a seed fund that focuses on early-stage growth companies and a series A fund that seeks to invest in companies that further improve social mobility in our region, respectively. Overall, he serves the role of Economic Development Officer at the Arrowhead Center. Carlos holds a Master’s degree in Business administration with a Finance concentration, a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, and a Bachelor’s degree in International Business from New Mexico State University. In 2019 he was awarded the highest honors in the College of Business, he also represented NMSU in the Regional CFA Research Challenge in 2020.

Edgar Corrales

Software Engineer

Edgar Corrales is pursuing a Master of Science in Data Analytics at NMSU. He received a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering and Mechanical Engineering at NMSU. Edgar has experience in forecasting, machine learning, data analytics, APIs, and back-end development.

Preeti Maurya

Software Engineer

Preeti Maurya is a Doctoral student in the Computer Science department at New Mexico State University. She received her Masters in Automotive Software Engineering from the Technical University of Chemnitz, Germany. Her Masters thesis focused on designing an efficient system which utilized advanced mathematical methods to explore correlations in-vehicle measurement data. She also has 4+ years of professional experience in Full Stack Development in the Information Technology domain. Her research interests span many aspects of big data management, particularly in building scalable cross platform data processing systems and data visualization methods & tools.

Yosif Yosif

Software Engineer

Yosif Yosif is an undergraduate student majoring in Electrical Engineering at NMSU. He has experience in Full Stack Development, Machine Learning, and Hardware Development.

ADVISORS

Shofiqur Rahman

Shofiqur Rahman received his Ph.D. (finance concentration) from the University of Texas at El Paso in 2014. Prior to that, he completed his MBA at Ball State University in 2010. His teaching interests include financial analysis and markets, corporate finance, investments, derivatives, and personal finance. Rahman has published in the Journal of Corporate Finance, Financial Management, and Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics. His current research interests are in corporate finance, capital markets, and investments.

Harikumar Sankaran

My research and teaching interests include option pricing, capital structure, CEO compensation, and corporate governance.

Dwight Kealy

Dwight Kealy is a College Professor of Business Law in the College of Business at New Mexico State University, an attorney licensed to practice law in California and New Mexico, and a National Faculty Member for the National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research. He holds the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and Accredited Advisor in Insurance (AAI) designations.

Steven Khuong

Steven is the co-founder and CEO of Curacubby, a Next-Gen Fintech platform for education, recreation, and family activity programs. As a thought leader in operations and process management, Steven has been featured in international media including CNN, Forbes.com, and Inc. Magazine. He currently serves as a mentor at the Envestnet | Yodlee Fintech Launchpad, as an advisor to the Arrowhead Center of Innovation at New Mexico State University, and previously a parent co-founder of an early education program for children with special needs. Steven founded his first business at age 12; DJing for local high school dances in Oakland, CA, and by age 16 began producing Hip-Hop music and founded a record label he later sold to fund his college education. Steven also founded Ice Chamber Athletic Performance Training and was the inventor of KettleGuard, the best-selling patented protective wrist device for kettlebell lifting. He was a member of the 2016-2017 Envestnet | Yodlee Incubator, an awarding-winning accelerator for next-generation fintech disruptors. Steven earned his bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications from the University of California at Berkeley.
