FIX Prototyping Lab
FIX provides opportunities for inventors and entrepreneurs in the Borderplex region to receive assistance with prototyping, CAD modeling, and manufacturing for physical products. In partnership with Aggie Innovation Space – a program managed by NMSU’s College of Engineering – approved FIX applicants gain access to the equipment and expertise of the university. Having prototypes in-hand can help entrepreneurs procure business investment, interact with potential customers, and forge critical partnerships in the early stages of their ventures. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

Minerva Robotics
Minerva Robotics, with the help of New Mexico State University’s Arrowhead Center, aims to use computer learning and fresh ingredients to bring gourmet tortillas to homes and businesses in the United States and Mexico.
Partnership with Chihuahua, Mexico
Arrowhead Center has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the government of Chihuahua, Mexico after Arrowhead Center was selected as an international business accelerator through Chihuahua’s Ministry of Innovation and Economic Development. This collaboration will give Mexican startups the ability to take part in business training or local advising to examine potential customers, the viability of products, and strategic business plans.

Meet Our Team
Carlos Murguia
Program Director
Carlos Murguia serves as Arrowhead Innovation Fund’s Associate Fund Manager, a general early stage seed fund that primarily focuses on New Mexico’s regional strengths in the agriculture, biotechnology, health/devices, information technology, engineering, energy, and water technology industry sectors. He is responsible for overall program operations, including the development and implementation of business support programs and industry ecosystems to help startups maximize growth and success. Carlos also collaborates with the Technology and Commercialization Office, which protects, manages, and commercializes the creative products of New Mexico State University. Carlos recently completed the HBCUvc fellowship, a program that provides fellows with venture capital skills training, mentorship, and the opportunity to build professional relationships with seasoned investors and entrepreneurs. He earned a BS in Industrial Engineering from Tecnologico Nacional de Mexico, Campus Uruapan, a Masters of Science in Industrial Engineering from NMSU and a Yellow Belt Lean Six Sigma Certification from the Lean Six Sigma Institute. Carlos is a 2017 NMSU Outstanding Graduate awardee.

Alejandro Najera-Acosta
Program Specialist, Sr.
Alejandro Najera-Acosta serves as Program Specialist, Sr., for NMSU’s Arrowhead Center. He is a Ph.D. student at New Mexico State University (NMSU) pursuing a major in Industrial Engineering, and a minor in Applied Statistics. Growing up in an industrialized environment as is Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico, Alejandro has experience managing systems, procedures, implementing control plans, mentoring, designing, and planning from professional expertise, teaching, research, and service. He has worked in different synergistic research projects, being involved in fields such as manufacturing, product design & development, sustainability, quality assurance, statistical methods, Six Sigma, design of parameters and tolerances. Additionally, he has served as a liaison between NMSU and the UACJ supporting academic collaboration. Alejandro received his B.Sc. in Industrial & Systems Engineering and M.Eng. in Manufacturing with Product Design Specialization from the Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juarez (UACJ). He has been granted the Business Award for Academic Excellence by COPARMEX Juarez, recognizing the generational highest GPA for local main universities, and recently he received the Love Learning Award.

In 2017, Paul and Alejandra De La Vega Foster provided a transformative $1,000,000 gift to NMSU and Arrowhead Center to create the Foster Innovation Exchange (FIX) – a program through which various support systems and resources for regional innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic development can collaborate.
